  Dale (crater) at AllExperts
It lies to the southeast of the larger Kastner crater and northeast of Ansgarius crater.
The crater is located in a part of the lunar surface that is subject to libration, which can hide it from view for periods of time.
It is a relatively shallow and insignificant crater formation with a somewhat eroded outer rim.

The first prominent crater south of Mare Crisium, Langrenus is a "landmark" feature, easily recognized and useful for orientation.
I tried to catch an eyeful of the terraces in the walls of Ansgarius when it was near the termintor but had no luck; the light was too direct and it was just a burned out glare.

Irene Antonenko, Ph.D. Thesis: Chapter 4
Because dark-haloed craters are often associated with cryptomafic materials, the distribution of these craters in target areas can be used to identify the boundaries of cryptomafic deposits, as was done in Chapter 1.
Several dark-haloed craters have been identified in the light plains units to the south of Hercules, and one dark-haloed crater is found on the southern portions of the Hercules ejecta deposit [Giguere et al.
Crater penetration was used by Budney and Lucey [1998] to estimate the thickness of materials in Mare Humorum.

 Surveyor Tool
Surveyor Tool gives you the ability to quickly and accurately measure the length of valleys, the diameter of lunar craters, and the distances between lunar features, by selecting two map points.
Calculate Distance Button, the Latitude and Longitude of both points is displayed, and the feature measurement is entered in the display window, along with the diameter in arc seconds, and the Azimuth of the line.
Limb craters are extremely difficult to measure because they appear very elongated.

However LMP is able to measure craters precisely using it's surveyor tool and two mouse clicks, no matter how close to the limb.
As I examine shadows projected from the crater rim across a crater floor that I can measure, it is easier to estimate the height of those features and get a better mental image of the lunar surface.
The effect of this type of projection on lunar craters can be seen if you were to draw a circle on a piece of paper and then hold drawing in front of you and without moving your head turn the paper in either direction.

This data set consists of 815 positive photographs in 70-mm format produced from the original 2485, 3400, 3414, and SO-267 b/w film copied on a Niagara printer to preserve albedo (reflecting properties) differences faithfully for photometric and photogrammetric studies.
Maria Fecunditatis, Tranquillitatis, Serentatis, Vaporum, and Sinus Medii were photographed, and pictures of large craters such as Pasteur, Tsiolkovsky, and Ansgarius on the farside and Langrenus, Theophilus, Herschel, and Lansberg on the frontside were obtained.
Surface photography included photographs of the ALSEP instruments, craters, boulders, the core tube, the LM, cone crater, a footprint trench, modularized equipment transporter tracks, the astronauts, the earth crescent, and pans of the lunar horizon.
