 Hurricanes acquire Anson Carter
The defending Stanley Cup champions acquired winger Anson Carter Friday from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a fifth-round pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.  
"Anson is a veteran NHL player who has had some good goal-scoring years in his career," Carolina's general manager Jim Rutherford said in a statement.
Carter, who will be joining his eighth NHL team in nine seasons, has 27 points in 54 games with the Blue Jackets this season.

Columbus also confirmed that forward Anson Carter will miss two weeks because of a sprained shoulder.
Carter had one goal and one assist in Friday's victory over Vancouver, giving him seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points in 35 games since signing a one-year, $2.5-million US contract with Columbus on Sept. 13. 
To replace Leclaire and Carter on the roster, Columbus recalled both goaltender Ty Conklin and forward Joakim Lindstrom from the AHL Syracuse Crunch.
