The title "Duke of Brabant" was created by the German Emperor Frederik Barbarossa in favor of Henry I of Brabant, son of Godfrey III of Louvain (who was Duke of Lower Lorraine at that time).

The duke of Aquitaine had a great desire to join the constable, although his father had forbidden him; but, by the persuasions of the king of Sicily and the duke of Berry, he was prevailed on to give it up.
The duke of Orleans and several others were, on this occasion, knighted; but the action did not last long, and the French retired to their camp, and nothing more was done that night.

Wenceslas, who was through marriage also duke of Brabant, had major problems imposing himself in the northern duchy against the Flemish pretender up to the year 1358, which could explain some additional attachment to Luxembourg.
With Anthony it thus was back on the Burgundian side, although it was in fact his wife Elizabeth, herself from the house of Luxembourg, who managed to get hold of the possession.
Their tactic was to change sides in the middle of the game: they can be found strongly opposing Anthony of Burgundy in the 1411-15 conflict, but being installed as a Council member by Philip the Good they fought on the Burgundian side in the 1452-3 events.
