Anthony Bucco (born February 24, 1938) is a Republican member of the New Jersey State Senate since 1998, where he represents the 25th Legislative District.
Bucco was first selected by district Republican committee and sworn in January 1995, to fill remainder of unexpired term of Rodney Frelinghuysen who resigned his Assembly seat following his election to Congress.
Bucco served on the Morris County Board of Chosen Freeholders from 1989-1992.

Bucco, of Boonton, was first elected to the senate in 1997 after a career that included stints in the Assembly, and as a Morris County freeholder, as well as mayor and alderman in his hometown.
Bucco said he will fight to restore the senior citizen property tax credit that was frozen by McGreevey in the last state budget and would support a constitutional convention on property taxes that includes a discussion on school spending.
MacInnes also said that Bucco used the Lake Hopatcong Commission, which was created by a bill he introduced, as a way to reward his political friends and a place to give his ex-chief of staff a job, from which she was eventually fired.

In March 1989, Bucco was picked from 22 contenders by the county freeholders to fill a board vacancy, but he later lost freeholder races in 1992 and 1993.
Scerbo said he believes Bucco's strengths include his knack for listening to his constituents and party loyalty, evidenced by his refusal to walk away from the GOP when he lost the freeholder race.
In December, Bucco's former chief-of-staff, Nina Fleishman, sued him in federal court for sexual harassment, alleging he sabotaged a short-lived job she held as secretary of the Lake Hopatcong Commission out of spite over a failed affair between them.

Senator Bucco's campaign has asked the MacInnes' campaign a series of questions which have yet to be answered.
She told a reporter that she never said she would contact the Bucco campaign directly but a fax to the campaign on September 2nd, taking up the challenge to debate, said, "Someone from my campaign will be in touch to begin working out the details of these debates."

In Morris County, a well-financed effort by Democrat Blair MacInnes to unseat Republican Senator Anthony Bucco, who had first won his seat in a bitter 1997 campaign in against MacInnes's husband, Gordon MacInnes, fell short, with Bucco re-elected by a 55-45 percent margin.
MacInnes had attacked Bucco for a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by Bucco's former chief of staff, charging that it was a public issue because the state Senate, named in the suit, had already expended $10,500 in legal fees related to the litigation.
Senator Bucco criticized the McGreevey Admninistration for freezing the senior citizen property tax credit in the last state budget and said he would support a constitutional convention on property taxes only if it included debate on school spending and possible reduction of the cuurent share of state aid provided to urban school districts.

A 2003 report by the Institute on Economic Policy and Taxation found New Jerseyans who earn $26,100 annually saw 5.2 percent of their income swallowed by the sales tax, compared with 3.1 percent for those earning $72,900 and 1.6 percent for those earning $276,000.
Corzine spokesman Anthony Coley noted the governor's budget proposes increasing the threshold under which residents must pay in come taxes from $20,000 to $25,000 and providing credits for those earning less than $30,000.

 Lawmakers: Highlands Preservation Plan Rushed
Republican legislators in northwestern New Jersey last night blasted the governor's Highlands preservation plan, saying it is being rushed through the political system to meet an April 20 Earth Day deadline and urged that the process be slowed to allow for intelligent debate.
State Sen. Anthony Bucco and Assemblyman Rick Merkt (both R- Morris) and Assemblyman Guy Gregg (R-Sussex) said there are too many unanswered questions on a host of issues - including funding, development rights, affordable housing and watershed moratorium aid - to be considered before legislation is introduced later this month.
The GOP trio, who made their comments outside last night's meeting, also announced they will hold their own public session on the Highlands on Tuesday evening at Centenary College in Hackettstown to listen to public concerns and develop a series of questions to be posed to the Democratic administration.
