Anthony Galla-Rini was born, January 18, 1904 in Manchester, Connecticut, the third of seven children born to Italian immigrant parents, John and Angela.
Anthony started his career in the family band at the age of 5 and when two years later they began working the Vaudeville circuits.
He is credited with many pioneering efforts such as: standardizing the stradella system, notating exact pitch of all the 5 sets of reeds in the left hand, notating the left hand in bass clef, and the logical choice and placement of the right hand and left hand registers.

ANTHONY GALLA-RINI was born in Manchester, Connecticut, USA on 18th January 1904 of an Italian family of musicians.
His father started to teach Anthony the comet at the age of four, and the accordion at the age of seven.
His purpose was to teach the accordion, to give it the full potential of it's ability, to write music for it so that others might receive the full benefit, and to promote the accordion as a concert instrument.

When it came for the last chorus all the lights were turned out and all that was seen was Anthony's face, cornet, lantern and cap.
Anthony (far right) knew the alphabet by that time and remembers reading about the sinking of the Titanic in the newspapers.
It was premiered with the Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra on November 15th of that year with Anthony as soloist.

Family and friends gathered in Corona, California on August 12th, for a service in the memory of the late Anthony Galla-Rini who passed away on July 30th 2006 at the grand age of 102.
Pictures and memorabilia were on display at the funeral service and reception, offering an interesting glimpse into Galla-Rini's long and productive life, one that was dedicated to the accordion.
To conclude the service, attendees were treated to a recording of a 37-year old Galla-Rini performing the premiere of his 'Concerto No. 1 in G minor' on November 15th 1941, at the Fine Arts Auditorium in Oklahoma City, with James Neilson conducting.

He was taken to hospital where the family quickly gathered to say their goodbyes.

CORONA, Calif., Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Internationally renowned accordion player Anthony Galla-Rini has died in Corona, Calif., after suffering a heart seizure.
Galla-Rini's son, Ron, said the musician died July 30 at Corona Regional Medical Center, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
A memorial service has been scheduled for Saturday at Olive Branch Community Church in Corona, where an ensemble of accordionists will play music arranged by Galla-Rini as a tribute.
