Read and Fisher (Kristallnacht) present a vivid verbal panorama of conditions in the German capital from the staging of the 1936 Olympics early in the Hitler era to the Nazi surrender in 1945.
Finally, Read and Fisher describe the orgy of rape that began when the Red Army breached the city's defenses, the scope of which is conveyed by the statistics: more than 90,000 women and girls sought medical treatment for rape in Berlin in 1945.
The British team of Read and Fisher (Kristallnacht, LJ 10/15/88, and The Deadly Embrace, LJ 11/15/89) turn their attention to the bombing of Berlin by the British and Americans and how the Russian Army fought its way toward and through Berlin in 1945.

Even if (as it often turns out in the book) such women were married to men, even to several men over the course of their life, so long as they exhibited traits of "intense woman-to-woman relating," they were "lesbian" pioneers.
Not only did Anthony famously renounce marriage and encourage women activists who worked for her not to marry, but it has long been known that she often signed letters to other suffragettes as "your friend and lover," and that she expressed passionate feelings for her friend Anna Dickinson.
It's clear that she would have been much happier living the life of a flirtatious woman professor in the golden era of the radical women-only colleges, with no men around, instead of being stuck in the confusing heterosexual mix of contemporary co-educational life.

Andrew Read and Anthony Child - Guitar Treatments (K2O)
Child's arsenal of pedals and processors draws out Read's guitar lines into synth-like swells that reverberate with the suggestions of their stretched melodies and taut timbres.
Child and Read created these tracks in 1998, not long before the digitally processed guitar meme began its wildfire spread through the underground, yet Guitar Treatments seems quaint.
Through a potent combination of improvisation, intuition, and composition, Read's instrument is transformed into the keyboard of some vast, empyrean organ, upon which Child proceeds to play looming refrains with Ligeti-like gravitas.
