	Anthrocon - WikiFur, the furry encyclopedia
		Founded in 1997, Anthrocon itself was an offshoot of the Furry Halloween parties held by Aloyen Youngblood; when attendance pushed triple digits, he decided to book a hotel, and organized it as a convention in 1997 with the aid of local friends Points, Rigel and others.
		Anthrocon, Inc. was incorporated as a non-profit organization on 25 June 1998 and registered as a 501(c)(7) social and recreation club in the state of Pennsylvania (entity 2823650).
		Applications to register the word "Anthrocon" and the 'Anthrocon paw' as US trademarks were filed on 18 September and 12 November 2006, respectively.

		OK, Just so everyone knows, I will be attending AnthroCon 2008 and I am to be setting up in the dealers room to be taking badge commissions and sketchbooks and all, but there is something to be done at the dealers room that has never been done before...
		I thought it would be appropriate for me to FINALLY join the Anthrocon LJ community.

	AnthroCon
		AnthroCon is billed as the largest gathering of Anthropomorphics, or - as they're more commonly known - "Furries" in the world.
		Instead, what I got was a lecture from a man in a lab coat covered with buttons about how the press was not welcome at AnthroCon due to their entirely rational tendency to make fun of adults dressed as animals.
		On the way out, Furry Security explained to me that AnthroCon is a private function and, since I wasn't invited, any recordings I'd made or photos I'd taken while on the premises could not be published or legal action would be taken.

		Anthrocon's a working convention for me—more so than usual this year due to wrangling the media with Rafferty.
		I made a list of people who were attending Anthrocon and managed to meet up with 70% of them without even trying.
