Anthropological theories of value - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anthropological theories of value attempt to expand on the traditional theories of value used by economists or ethicists.
Anthropological linguistics is a related field which looks at the terms we use to describe economic relations and the ecologies they are set within.
Many anthropological economists (or economic anthropologists) are reacting against what they see as the portrayal of modern society as an economic machine that merely produces and consumes.

Anthropological researchers working with animals must do everything in their power to ensure that the research does not harm the safety, psychological well-being or survival of the animals or species with which they work.
Thus, anthropological researchers are subject to the general moral rules of scientific and scholarly conduct: they should not deceive or knowingly misrepresent (i.e., fabricate evidence, falsify, plagiarize), or attempt to prevent reporting of misconduct, or obstruct the scientific/scholarly research of others.

Learn more about Anthropological linguistics in the online encyclopedia.   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-07)
Anthropological linguistics is a branch of linguistic anthropology, however, it inverts the usual study of humans through the languages they use, to study language through human genetics and human development - thus it is properly a branch of linguistics more than anthropology.
It has had its major impact in the studies of visual perception (especially colour) and bioregional democracy, both of which are concerned with distinctions that are made in languages about perceptions of the environment.
This would seem to cross the line from science to activism, but is well within the anthropological tradition of study by the participant-observer.

 CREDE Educational Practice Report 4
Unfortunately, anthropological understandings of culture rarely find their way into schools and classrooms, perhaps because anthropologists have not tried hard enough to break out of the "ivory tower," or perhaps because education's need for new ways of thinking about culture did not seem acute until recently.
Contemporary anthropological notions of culture try to understand how people make meaning within their community and how these "webs of significance" give rise to behaviors and attitudes.
The Funds of Knowledge Project (González, 1995a), informed by anthropological research strategies, is a successful model that can be applied or adapted by teachers and school communities not only to understand the cultures of the students they teach, but also to forge closer connections with the families.
