AFA was founded in Denmark in 1992 after a bomb killing of a young anti-racist.
AFA formed partly in order to be prepared to react against similar future events, partly because the autonomous movement that AFA originated from needed a stronger and more continuous organization.
AFA refuse any attempts to dialogue with organized racists because any such dialog can be nothing else than advertisement and a platform for their ‘ideas’.

Anti-Fascist Action - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anti-Fascist Action (or AFA) is a British left-wing organisation founded in 1986.
It opposed groups it viewed as fascist in Britain such as the National Front and British National Party amongst others.
Other anti-fascists including elements from the Militant Tendency stewards group and "renegade" AFA groups not ready to abandon the physical confrontation of their opponents on the streets, continue a militant anti-fascist tradition under the banner of "No Platform".

 The Voice of the Turtle
Fascist ideas, in themselves, are not especially interesting, and the attempts to delineate the detailed structure and content of fascist ideology seem to give fascism a static or timeless character, which it certainly lacked.
And in government fascists are only able to promote the cause of big capital, with the result that the regime can only seek to displace the contradiction between the constitutents it claims to represent and the interests it in fact serves through racist persecutions, foreign expansion and war.
Dave further opposes studies that concentrate on fascist ideology because he believes the ideas themselves are of no interest or value, yet his condemnation is too brutal, and the study of fascist ideology (and of its lingering appeal) remains of enormous interest and vital importance.

Fascist Terror And The State's Complicity Since 1990, fascists and racists have killed at least 75 people - immigrants, refugees, homeless, disabled and young anti-fascists - in Germany; thousands of attacks and firebombings have been aimed particularly at immigrants and refugees as well as against the small Jewish community.

While violent or militant anti-fascism does occur the movement can also be non-violent; being an anti-fascist is not necessarily to "fight" fascism with violence, and many antifa activists consider it to be no better than the fascists themselves.
An anti-fascist is one who opposes fascism, and/or engages in anti-fascist direct action.
The term antifa is a commonly used word for anti-fascist action.

CalendarHome.com - - Calendar Encyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
The ANL has latterly faced four main challenges to its campaigning: the attempts of the far-right to ditch their image of fascist or racist politics; criticism of its demands for the suppression or censorship of far-right groups; criticisms of its populist or popular front orientation; and criticisms of its relationship with the Socialist Workers Party.
The ANL response to this criticism derives from the argument that, because fascist groups ultimately seek to curtail democracy and suppress democratic rights (even if they initially seek to obtain power through democratic means), the curtailment of their democratic rights can be justified as a means of protecting those of the broader citizenry.
Advocates of militant anti-fascism, such as those associated with Anti-Fascist Action see the ANL (and its successor Unite Against Fascism) as a liberal anti-fascist organisation - that is, one that essentially defends the status quo against fascism, using the language and strategies of mainstream liberal democratic politics.

AFA: Right-wing populist Fortuyn spearheads right-wing election gains
Equally, conspiracy theories were doing the rounds, including one claiming that the split between Fortuyn and LN was deliberately engineered by Jan Nagel to ensure that LN was no longer seen as right-wing and that both Fortuyn and LN could mount attacks on the governing coalition from the left as well as from the right.
Also, they were strongly challenged by Anti-Fascist Action, whose activists systematically tore down their posters, distributed tens of thousands of anti-fascist (and anti-Fortuyn) leaflets and put advertisements in local newspapers, calling on people not to vote fascist.
Although Fortuyn is clearly different from fascists like Haider in Austria and Dewinter in Belgium, he uses the same populist tactics and campaign themes as the Freedom Party and the Vlaams Blok.

AFA was re- launched in London in 1989, and in 1992 a national meeting was held in London to sort out a new national structure.
