 Humor: .NET Architectural Anti-Patterns
Pattern oriented architecture - A trend that's found in systems created by architects who've recently read and digested books on architectural patterns and come to the conclusion that implementing patterns (such as front-controller, etc) is the key to a successful architecture.
The final day of the Patterns and Practices Summit West 2005 started with a keynote presentation from Mike Kropp, General Manager of the Patterns and Practices team, on the future of Patterns and Practices.
Rather than determining if common patterns are appropriate, and picking the most suitable one, all patterns that can be applied are done so, on top of one another, creating an entangled, schizophrenic system.

 Knowledge-at-work: Anti-patterns, avoiding pitfalls
Anti-patterns mostly do not form a neat pattern language, where there are clusters, connections, sequence and levels of abstraction - they are rather a collection of things to avoid.
Here is a page from the pattern wiki that helps explain the key role of anti-patterns - they alert you to traps, unforgiving situations, bad places and practices that just do not work!
In the world of patterns and pattern language, anti-patterns get a raw deal.

Anti-patterns describe situations to avoid and as such do not need to be so precise!

I think patterns (and therefor anti-patterns) are supposed to describe something specific.
I’m not sure but this looks as valid to me. Chain of Responsibility and Bridge are also common patterns, ambiguous in definition.
The pattern takes its name from a situation we’ve all experienced: you want to store something in a jam-packed kitchen cupboard, so you open it up, and your Rice Krispies, peanut-butter, coffee, and marmalade falls out.

Design pattern (computer science) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Object-oriented design patterns typically show relationships and interactions between classes or objects, without specifying the final application classes or objects that are involved.
Algorithms are not thought of as design patterns, since they solve computational problems rather than design problems.
A design pattern isn't a finished design that can be transformed directly into code; it is a description or template for how to solve a problem that can be used in many different situations.

Patterns seem to get people in trouble here, so I am going to single that out: Patterns are guidelines, and descriptions of common system designs, not blueprints that you shoehorn your system into.

If you have wormholes, and you aren't just doing data pass-through, chances are you've got behavior in the wrong layer, and are having to duplicate the data accordingly -- I don't care what the pattern book says.

 The Anti-Nuclear Antibody (ANA) Test
For example, the anti-centromere and the anti-nucleolar patterns are fairly specific for scleroderma, but other patterns such as the speckled pattern may be seen in both scleroderma and other connective-tissue diseases.
Generally, the ANA test is used by the rheumatologist to help support or refute a clinical impression; neither the pattern nor the titer is used to monitor the course of disease.
Changes in pattern and titer are relatively insensitive, and therefore not very useful for the clinician.

Principles of Service Design: Service Patterns and Anti-Patterns (Building Distributed Applications)
Where patterns provide proven guidance and best practices, anti-patterns illustrate common design flaws and serve as a method for learning from the mistakes of others.
Patterns are a proven approach for rapidly understanding design guidelines and the various contexts in which they should be applied.
Christopher Alexander, author of several books on pattern languages, has defined patterns as "an abstraction from a concrete form which keeps recurring in specific, non-arbitrary contexts." Patterns and pattern languages are ways to describe best practices, proven designs, and capture past experiences in a way for others to learn from these experiences.

Insofar as psychoanalysis cloaks insanity in the mantle of a "parental complex," and regards the patterns of self-punishment resulting from Oedipus as a confession of guilt, its theories are not at all radical or innovative.

The schizo is immune to Oedipus, and thus immune to totalizing theory.

Fibonacci number - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fibonacci sequences have been noted to appear in biological settings, such as the branching patterns of leaves in grasses and flowers, branching in bushes and trees, the arrangement of tines on a pine cone, seeds on a raspberry and the like.
Matiyasevich was able to show that the Fibonacci numbers can be defined by a Diophantine equation, which led to his original solution of Hilbert's tenth problem.
The Fibonacci numbers are important in the run-time analysis of Euclid's algorithm to determine the greatest common divisor of two integers.
