Anti-Party Group - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Anti-Party Group was an epithet used by Nikita Khrushchev to describe Stalinist members of the Presidium of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, led by Vyacheslav Molotov, Lazar Kaganovich and Georgy Malenkov, who attempted to depose him as First Secretary of the Party in May 1957.
At an extraordinary session of the Central Committee held in late June, Khrushchev argued that his opponents were an "anti-Party Group" and won a vote reaffirming his position as First Secretary and expelling Molotov, Kaganovich and Malenkov from the Secretariat and ultimately from the Communist Party itself.

United States Democratic Party Encyclopedia Article, Definition, History, Biography
Of the two major U.S. parties, the Democratic Party is to the left of the Republican Party, though its politics are not as consistently leftist as the traditional social democratic and labor parties in much of the world.
Civil libertarians also often support the Democratic Party because its positions on such issues as civil rights and separation of church and state are more closely aligned to their own than the positions of the Republican Party, and because the Democrats' economic agenda may be more appealing to them than that of the Libertarian Party.
In the early 20th century, the traditional symbol of the Democratic Party in Midwestern states such as Indiana, Kentucky, Oklahoma and Ohio was the rooster, as opposed to the Republican eagle.
