The anticline is an asymmetric fold with a strike of S. 30[degrees] E. and dips of from 4[degrees] to 40[degrees] southwest and less than 1[degrees] northeast (Clement 1986).
Present along the surface exposures of the anticline are rocks dating from Upper Cretaceous to Paleocene age (Davis and Hunt 1956).

Syncline and Anticline: World of Earth Science
Syncline and anticline are terms used to describe folds based on the relative ages of folded rock layers.
A syncline is a fold in which the youngest rocks occur in the core of a fold (i.e., closest to the fold axis), whereas the oldest rocks occur in the core of an anticline.
Such folds are called synformal anticlines; synformal because of their shape and anticline because of the relative ages of folded layers.

 CHAPTER 3: RESULTS
The plain at the foot of the anticline is cultivated and some zones are also strongly vegetated.
These are lowlands filled by sediments bounded to the East by the slope of the anticline and to the West by a structural ridge made of a hard rock formation which should act as a natural dam for sediments (visible as a white line running NW-SE).
It is interesting to note that at the foot of the limestone slopes, a narrow flat zone occurs, bounded to the south by a small ridge of harder rock (possibly limestone, white in the satellite image).

Upper Green River Valley Coalition: Pinedale Anticline
During the winter of 2007, the Bureau of Land Management fielded public comment on a draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) on industry’s ambitious proposal for year-round and expanded drilling in the Pinedale Anticline project area that lies west and south of the town of Pinedale.
The proposal marks a troubling escalation, calling for 4,400 more natural gas wells, almost nine times the number currently in place, drilled at a rate of up to 232 a year.
Coupled with the recently approved 3,100-well infill project on the neighboring Jonah Field, ramped-up drilling in the Pinedale Anticline could forever alter Sublette County’s quality of life, air quality and ability to support abundant wildlife—all the things that make Wyoming’s Upper Green River Valley a great place to live and visit.

It may be observed that although it was recognized that the strike of anticlinal folds in pre-Pennsylvanian rocks in the area differs from the axis of the uplift as a whole, several geologists used the terms Barton arch and Central Kansas uplift for both the pre- and post-Mississippian structure.

Baker, however, said that she has yet to see details of the plan and that there is no historical data on the habitat as it existed before the onset of drilling.
In addition, since the current drilling activity has already reduced the number of grouse and mule deer in the anticline, conservationists want the BLM to set a number on wildlife population decline that could not be exceeded.
