Antifa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Today, the term Antifa refers to individuals and groups that are dedicated to fighting what they call fascist tendencies.
For these groups, the struggle against fascism, racism and nationalism is usually associated with a broader view that holds society (or aspects of it) responsible, and therefore seeks radical social change.
Antifa groups most often view capitalism as related to fascism and racism, as well as sexism, homophobia and other perceived forms of oppression, while seeing communism, socialism or anarchism as desirable forms of social organization.

The police raids were aimed at the organization "Autonome Antifa (M)", allegedly in an attempt to seize evidence proving that Autonome Antifa (M) are in the process of forming a terrorist organization, as well as operating in contact with and in support of the Red Army Fraction (RAF).

According to Anti-Deutsch for Beginners, Antifa, or Anti-Deutsch's primary interest is to prevent renewed imperialist ambitions in Germany.
It cannot be completely excluded that considerable resistance against renewed super power ambitions will develop in Germany sometime; however the experiences of the anti-war movement during the war in Kosovo and later don't justify such a hope.

I focus on the example of Antifa activist and poster designer Ralf Fischer, who is at once representative of young eastern German men who came of age in the 1990s after the fall of the Wall, and unusual in having emerged from that decade having fully committed himself to radical left activism.
It is both a verbal reiteration the central tenet of Antifa identity (to "smash" Nazism) and, because the word is routinely rendered in English, another indication of the depth of Americanization in eastern Germany fifteen years after the fall of the Wall.
Fischer was among the frontline Antifa activists, who set up and set fire to street barricades to block the Nazis' path, and hurled rocks and bottles at them to discourage and in fact halt their police-escorted advance.
