 MINE-BLASTER: The APOBS Breaching Weapon
When it comes to clearing antipersonnel mines and clearing footpaths 1 meter wide, the Bangalore is the one for the job, but the modern era has brought high-tensile strength barbed wire obstacles -- obstacles that aren't easily cleared by this behemoth.
In addition, the APOBS is a no-more, no-less system; with the Bangalore if all you need to breech is a 10-foot wide wire entanglement, you need only use two 5 foot sections, whereas with the APOBS you use all 150 feet of line charge when it is fired.
Heavily armored and armed with a large caliber, low-velocity demolition gun, a 728-like vehicle could approach obstacles with relative impunity (where the most common threat would be the RPG light anti-tank weapon) and reduce the obstacle without exposing the crew.
