 | | In 1999, almost one thousand five hundred (1,500) squatter families from Vitarich Compound, Antipolo City, were relocated to Prayer Mountain, a 65,792 square meter hilly village among the mountains of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. |
 | | The area is 20 km away from the city proper, and the families started to build shanties using scrap materials in raw land that had no drainage, water supply, or electricity. |
 | | This transformation was achieved by building up a strong community organization called the Kapitbahayan, and mobilizing a committed caretaker team that can become a partner in achieving the vision for a new Prayer Mountain. |
