Comparative perspectives will be encouraged, and the journal will feature regular review essays as well as book reviews.
And the historical significance of ‘nation’ in political and cultural terms will be considered in relationship to other important and in some cases countervailing forms of identity such as religion, region, tribe or class.

 cryptology --  Encyclopædia Britannica
The first was the period of manual cryptography, starting with the origins of the subject in antiquity and continuing through World War I. Throughout this phase cryptography was limited by the complexity of what a code clerk could reasonably do aided by simple mnemonic devices.
Because much of the terminology of cryptology dates to a time when written messages were the only things being secured, the source information, even if it is an apparently incomprehensible binary stream of 1s and 0s, as in computer output, is referred to as the plaintext.
Chronicles events during the war and the impact of cryptology and its decipherment by the Allies.

Victor Roudometof - Nationalism and Identity Politics in the Balkans: Greece and the Macedonian Question - Journal of Modern Greek Studies 14:2
Theoretically speaking, this political controversy is seen as a manifestation of Balkan nationalisms' elevation of the concept of nationhood as the essential element for nation-building, and their concomitant subordination of citizenship.
With respect to the Ottoman territory of the central Balkans, the term Macedonia surfaced in the nineteenth-century maps of the region concomitantly with the rise of Balkan nationalisms (Wilkinson, 1951).
The desire to "upgrade" the social and cultural conditions of the "backward" Ottoman state was seized upon by Balkan intellectuals to postulate the new idea of the nation as a concept that would enhance the modernization of their part of the world.

Janus Head 2-2: Frank Edler/Alfred Baeumler on H?lderlin and the Greeks/Part II of III
Jaeger, of course, was going to publish Heidegger’s Rektoratsrede in the journal Antiquity (Die Antike) which Jaeger founded and edited, probably the premier journal of antiquity in Germany at that time.
What is odd is that Jaeger wrote an article for Ernst Krieck’s journal Volk im Werden in which he defended his concept of a third humanism against nazi criticisms.
In 1914, Jaeger accepted Nietzsche’s chair at Basel and never fought for his country in World War I. Jaeger’s inaugural lecture for the Basel position was entitled "Philologie und Historie" ("Philology and History").

Creationism and Scriptural Geology, 1817–1857 - Introduction
Scriptural geology in general has received little historical examination, the sole recent major study appearing to be that of Mortenson, which has not been published in any academic journal, but has partially appeared between 1997 and 2002 in the Young Earth Creationist magazine C.E.N. Technical Journal.
It has been alleged that geology, by referring the origin of the globe to a higher antiquity than is assigned to it by the writings of Moses, undermines our faith in the inspiration of the Bible, and in all the animating prospects of the immortality which it unfolds.
To modify a statement by John Hedley Brooke, one could be a reader of geology, one could think about the relations between geology and faith, one could be a patron of safe geology, one could be an author and a teacher of geology — without actually doing any geology.
