Anton Burg (October 18, 1904 - November, 2003) was the father of the University of Southern California chemistry department and an expert on boron.
Burg joined USC in 1939 as an assistant professor.
One of his students Herbert C. Brown won a Nobel Prize for his work following up on Burg's research.

Anton Burg, 99, once the world’s leading expert on boron and the father of chemistry at USC, died Nov. 18 at his home near the USC campus in Los Angeles.
Chemist Arthur Adamson, another of Burg’s hires who died on July 22, 2003 at the age of 83, recalled that the university’s president was surprised by the changes in the department.
Anton Behme Burg was born Oct. 18, 1904, in Dallas City, Ill., the grandson of a German immigrant who made a fortune building carriages.

Frederick Von Burg, a teacher in the Levittown School District for over 31 years, recently released his new novel Keep My White Sneakers, Kit Carson, which is aimed at young adults aged 14-18.
According to Von Burg, who is a resident of Syosset, high school physics students are very familiar with the Van De Graaf generator, an instrument that generates static electricity.
Von Burg also gained a great deal of knowledge regarding what teens enjoy reading and based the story and the cover of the book on that information.
