Anton Schwarzkopf - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Anton Schwarzkopf (1924-2001) was a prolific German roller coaster engineer and founder of the Schwarzkopf Industries company, which built numerous amusement park rides and roller coasters.
Schwarzkopf was introduced into the industry with his father's involvement with the design of specialized trailers used to transport circus equipment.
Schwarzkopf retired from the industry in 1995, and passed away on 30 July 2001 after suffering from Parkinson's disease for many years.

Roller Coaster History | Late Seventies
Two of the big players building steel coasters were Intamin (Swiss Firm Intamin AG sold the rides of Anton Schwarzkopf, a German coaster designer, in the U.S.) and Arrow Development (which had pioneered the first use of tubular steel track).
Schwarzkopf produced several types of coasters during this time that were reflections the portable steel coasters they had been making for German fairs under the name of Wildcat and Jumbo Jet.
It is important to note that Anton Schwarzkopf was the one who designed these coasters and Intamin was simply the broker and U.S. representative for Anton's rides.

Coaster Kingdom - Eurostar, German Fairs
Anton Schwarzkopf, the mastermind behind the likes of Thriller and Dreier Looping, had fallen ill. His last major travelling coaster was 1989's Olympia Looping, while the only other major coaster to appear in this respite had been 1992's enclosed family ride, "Magic Mountain" (now "Star World").
Schwarzkopf's travelling coasters were a masterclass of "staging", with the lift hill and bigger drops at the back of the ride, and other major elements, such as inversions, perched in the foreground, and often right above the paybox for maximum visual impact.
From here, we are thrown straight into an inverted equivalent of the famous Schwarzkopf twisting first drop, and into the vertical loop with all the speed and fury of a rampaging rhinoceros.

The flying experience that was presented in the year 2000 in the US for the first time would have been a top novelty in Europe, but the size of that ride exceeded the possibilities at Bobbejaanland by far.

As is commonly the case with UK imports, the order in which the machines arrived in the UK does not map directly back onto the order in which the machines were introduced, so a couple of Skylabs had a brief sojourn on the UK fairs in the 1980s and 1990s.
The naming of the ride and the tie-in with the popular television series was not entirely coincidental – the cars had been designed to resemble aspects of the Starship Enterprise, and the swanky upward folding doors had been modelled on the prestigious Mercedes 300 SL roadster.
It was, however, the second Schwarzkopf Enterprise, developed for showman Beuermann, that fashioned the direction of Schwarzkopf’s ambitions.

Having worked under Anton Schwarzkopf for many years, Stengel was ready to make his own mark on the coaster scene.
This is reminiscent of Schwarzkopf's attention grabbing arrangement of loops at the front of both Dreier and Olympia Looping, or his spectacular arrangement of Thriller's three circular loops one behind the other.
Obviously Schwarzkopf didn't forget to teach Stengel the fact that a portable coaster, operated in a competitive pay-per-ride environment, needs to be as exciting for the spectator as for the rider in order to attract the crowds to the pay desk.

The lead management for those projects was in the hands of Anton Schwarzkopf, Gerstlauer´s former boss, who was a contractor with his past competitors after his own companies´ bankruptcies.
The multiple bankruptcies of Schwarzkopf and other companies in the roller coaster business advised caution, because building coasters is connected with extensive and incalculable risks.
