Green holds two undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and computing, and a Bachelor of Economics with honours in politics.
Green worked as a data analyst in the computing industry and for a polling company before joining the ABC in 1989.

Similar to Antony Green, I have participated in the UK FPP and consider it, after comparison to the three ring circus of second preference deals and skulduggery, to be a superior process simply because it is simple, understandable and unambiguous.

What I have noticed is that the sum of the "primary" level of anti-government support ie Labor plus the Greens, has ranged between 47 to 50 percent over the same period, underscoring the 2 party preferred vote favouring Labor.
Assuming Labor and the Coalition were on opposite sides of a vote, the Democrats have held the balance of power by being able to determine the outcome by deciding on which side to vote.
However, at the 1995 Queensland election, it was Labor that was disadvantaged in a number of seats when Green voters chose to exhaust their preferences, preventing Labor coming from second place to win on preferences.

But poor Macca never got to be major even when the draw went his way several of his Labor colleagues decided this may not be the best way to select a Labor major and instead voted for Indepedent Larry Hand.
