Broken Sword Crook enters the township at the north at a point near the northeast corner of Section 5, and flows in a south and southwest direction through Sections 4, 8, 17 and 18, cutting the northeast and southwest corners of the latter respectively, and entering the Sandusky near the center of Section 19.
The soil of Antrim Township is very fertile and well adapted to wheat raising, as well as to the culture of oats, corn and other ordinary cereals.
The schools of the township at the present time are perhaps as well conducted as any in the county, and their interests are as carefully guarded, most of the schoolhouses being built of brick and well furnished.

Antrim Township is a Municipal Government located in Franklin County, South-Central Pennsylvania.
The Township insignia depicts the Science of Agriculture, the Brown’s Mill one-room school (now serving as a museum in the village of Kauffman Station) and Martin's Mill Bridge (a covered wooden bridge that was built in 1849).

Antrim Township is thought to have gotten it's name from Antrim, Ireland or the town of Antrim in New Hampshire.
Fairfield is the smallest of the townships and because it was heavily wooded with many swampy areas, it was not settled until much later than the other townships.
The first township meeting was held in 1842, after the township had been defined and declared by the State of Michigan.

Helena Township - a township called Milton was organized by the Board of Supervisors of Grand Traverse County on March 3, 1857.
Mancelona Township - actually two townships rolled into one, this township was organized by act of legislature, approved Jan. 18, 1871 and comprised one township from Otsego County as well as one from Antrim County.

The township is named for Antrim, Ireland, a sure indication that the first residents were of Scotch-Irish descent.
They were not too succesful in attracting converts, nor were they made to feel particularly welcome, and Rigson sent two emmissaries away to scout for a new location.
Arriving in Antrim, they stopped on a bridge over the Conococheagues and declared that Andrew G. McLanahan's farm was to be the site of the "new Jerusalem." They purchased the farm for $14,700, paying $6,000 in advance anmd mortgaging the rest, and in 1846 approximately 150 Mormons moved to Antrim.

 Michael Wiland
As early as 1778, Michael was living at Antrim Township in Franklin County (part of Cumberland County at that time), Pennsylvania.
On May 10, 1783, Michael purchased 150 acres known as "Antrim Plantation" in Hamilton Township (just north of Antrim Township) from John Thomson (part of an original warrant issued to David Brigham on June 3, 1762).
After Christian died (sometime before or in 1829), his brother John Wiland bought the 96 acres of the original "Antrim" patent from Christian's heirs and reunited the original "Antrim" patent land.

During the late 1700's there were a number of John McDowells living in the Cumberland Valley area of Pennsylvania and due to the lack of records, it can be difficult to keep them separated.
It is believed that our John McDowell is the one found owning 256 1/2 acres on the original land warrant maps of Antrim Township.
Both these men are shown on the 1753 tax lists for Antrim Township.
