Sri Lankan marathon runners Anuradha Cooray and Ajith Bandara proved that they are the best in this event when they completed the 42-kilometer event comfortably to bring a gold and silver for their country at the 9th SAF Games now in progress at the Jinnah stadium.
Cooray was in full control of the race from its commencement and maintained his lead until the finishing line.
Cooray's gold medal on Sunday morning increased Sri Lanka's medals tally to 8 golds, 19 silvers, 27 bronze, and they occupy the third place behind the strong Indians and hosts Pakistanis who have a total of 95 and 78 medals respectively.
