Australian and New Zealand Divisions were involved in a number of engagements during the Battle of the Somme (1916) while components of British corps but it was only during the Battle of Pozieres, 23rd July 1916, that an Anzac formation participated as a whole.

ANZAC is the acronym formed from the initial letters of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, the formation into which Australian and New Zealand soldiers were grouped in Egypt prior to the landing at Gallipoli in April 1915.
These formations, I ANZAC Corps comprising three Australian divisions and II ANZAC Corps made up of the 4th and 5th Australian divisions and the New Zealand Division, were transferred to France and fought on the Western Front until 1917, when the five Australian formations were grouped into a single Australian Corps.
In the Second World War, a new ANZAC was formed during the short Greek campaign of April 1941 when the 6th Australian Division and the New Zealand Division were joined under command of the headquarters of I Australian Corps (redesignated as ANZAC Corps).

The main assault would be carried out by the 53rd Division, under the command of Major General A.G. Dallas, with the support of one brigade (the 161st Brigade) of the 54th Division.

The Desert Mounted Corps was a World War I Allied army corps that operated in the Middle East (Sinai and Palestine) during 1917 and 1918.
The DMC was not an Anzac corps -- it contained numerous British and India n cavalry brigades as well as some French colonial cavalry -- but the Australia n and New Zealand units provided the veteran foundation and it was the first army corps to be commanded by an Australian.

Chaytor's division was then involved in fighting in the hills to the north of Beersheba, and it was not until the 7.11.1917 that Turkish resistance was broken.
Chaytor's division was used in operations against Jericho and the Jordan beginning on 19.2.1918, and was involved in the capture of Jericho on the 21st.
Positioned in the Jordan Valley, the Anzac Mounted Division was involved in protecting the right flank of the E.E.F. On 9.4.1918 they were in action against Turkish forces on the east bank of the Jordan, and then had to put up a stout defence against counter-attacks.

At the time of the battle, his available forces comprised two British infantry divisions (the 42nd Division and the 52nd (Lowland) Division) and the Anzac Mounted Division, under General H.G. In July, 1916, the commander of the northern sector of the canal defences, General Sir H.A. Lawrence, had the 52nd Division entrenched on the eastern edge of the Romani sand hills and was using the mounted brigades to patrol the oasis to the east.
The Turks at Mount Royston were checked to the north by the 3rd and 6th Light Horse Regiments, under constant bombardment from the horse artillery and the heavy artillery of the 52nd Division and when Chaytor's force attacked from the west, they surrendered on mass, around 6pm on August 4.

The advance of the Anzac Mounted Division was held up at the Tel el Saba redoubt—by the time it was captured the attack was running many hours behind schedule and the possibility of launching the combined infantry and mounted assault on the town before nightfall looked slim.
The Anzac Mounted Division, advancing to the east against Jemmameh, had less success and did not manage to capture their objective until November 9 when it was reached by the 3rd Light Horse Regiment.

 Second Battle of Gaza
At 7.15 am on April 19, the 53rd Division advanced on the extreme left (west) of the front, aiming for the sand dunes between Gaza and the Mediterranean shore.
This was followed shortly after by the 52nd Division (155th and 156th Brigades) attacking in the centre against Gaza and Ali Muntar and the 54th Division (161st and 162nd Brigades) attacking on the right between Gaza and the "Tank" Redoubt.
However, one tank operating to the right of the 54th Division on the front facing a strong redoubt that was to become known as "Tank" Redoubt, did enable the infantry to make their most significant gain of the battle.

 Anzac Mounted Division
The Australian and New Zealand Mounted Division was formed in Egypt in March 1916 from the four Australian and New Zealand mounted brigades assigned to ANZAC.
Even before the division had finished forming, the 1st Light Horse Brigade was sent to the Western Desert to fight the Senussi while the rest of the division moved to the Suez Canal, relieving the 1st Division, which moved to the Western Front.
An attempt by the Turks to attack the Suez Canal in August 1916 resulted in it being intercepted and defeated by the Australian and New Zealand Mounted Division in the Battle of Romani.
