The Anzani was an engine manufacturer founded by the Italian Alessandro Anzani (1877-1956).
In 1920 Anzani turned to motor racing and built a smallcar with one of his 750 cc two cylinder engines, air cooled of course, which won several competitions.
In the UK, British Anzani outsourced the manufacture of their engines to Coventry Ordnance Works Ltd.

A car was sent to fetch Bleriot from a Calais hotel, while at Les Baraques the enginemaker Anzani contributed to the general excitement by running around in his nightshirt, firing off blanks with a revolver.
He had his crutches strapped to the side of the plane, tucked a distress flag (to be waved in case he ditched) beside him and took his plane up for a trial spin.

Both a designer and a pilot, pioneer French aviator Bleriot was still on crutches from a previous crash when he made this flight of 21 miles in 38 minutes- through fog and mist, without a compass.

Anzanis were known to have problems with overheating, and had Bleriot not flown through a passing rain shower, thus cooling his engine, he might not have completed his historic flight.
