Aomori Prefecture (青森県 Aomoriken or frequently Aomori-ken) is located in the Tohoku region of Japan.
Aomori Prefecture is the northernmost prefecture on Honshu and faces Hokkaido across the Tsugaru Strait.
The two major dialects of Japanese spoken in Aomori Prefecture are Tsugaru-ben (津軽弁) and Nambu-ben (南部弁); the former is prevalent in the area around Aomori City, and the latter is heard in and around the city of Hachinohe.

BTW, if you're in Aomori, the big cities are aomori, hirosaki, hachinohe and to a lesser extent goshogawara, mutsu and misawa.
in aomori, odds are you will be a high school jet, but if you're in the sticks (also likely), you'll probably be responsible for all the schools in your town.
Aomori city is a lot further away than Hach.

Last week was time for the one thing Aomori is famous for (other than snow and apples), and that is its lavish summer night festivals.
Aomori City's Nebuta parade is no doubt the biggest and most famous, with Hirosaki's Neputa closely behind, but I'm a little more partial to Goshogawara's lesser known Tachi-Neputa, and it's 7 story high mega floats.
I like to think of last year's parade as the "Taishi-Neputa" since Steph's monk boyfriend at the time was kind enough to reserve a space along the route for us.
