 The History of Apalit
Apalit was formally established as an independent municipality in 1582 during the term of Spanish Governor General Gonzalo Ronquillo de Penalosa with Juan Cudia as its first capitan del pueblo.
The town of Apalit is located in the southern part of Pampanga bounded in the south by Calumpit, Bulacan, in the north by the town of San Simon and in the west by the municipality of Macabebe.
Their son Don Macario Arnedo, a four-term elected governor of Pampanga during the early years of the 20th century continued with his wife Dona Maria Espiritu Arnedo the traditional luxurious banquets and balls in barrio Sulipan.

APALIT, Pampanga -- Mayor Tirso Lacanilao recently sought the transfer of Apalit election officer Joselito T. Matias after he allegedly violated the rules on voter registration by enlisting persons who are not residents of the town.
In an interview, Lacanilao said he is not against anyone or any group but he wants to ensure that all new voters registered in Apalit are legitimate residents of the town.
But in a separate interview, Apalit Comelec registrar Joselito Matias said the ADD members whom he registered in four occasions from August 20 to August 27, have all passed the necessary requirements for new voters.

We don't know how the Apalit firemen marked Fire Prevention Month in March knowing fully well that they were next to inutile if a fire were to materialize right in their midst.
Inevitably, other serious questions that eventually affect public service and welfare may be raised by the unfortunate fire incident that, hopefully will make the people of Apalit reevaluate the performance of Lacanilao and other local officials.
