The NOSB Apiculture Task Force was charged with development of organic apiculture standards.
If a prohibited material has been used in or on the hive prior to the 270 day transition, the producer must replace the hive’s foundation with foundation made from organic wax and remove those products to be sold as organic, prior to the start of the transition period.

The Draft Organic Apiculture Standard recommendations, while serving as guidelines, are not regulations (standards) until formally implemented by USDA/National Organic Program.
The NOSB report recommends that if products from an apiculture operation are to be sold as organic, the bees and hives have to be managed in compliance with the organic livestock standards for at least 270 days prior to removal of products from the hive.
State apicultural inspectors, usually with the Department of Agriculture, are another good source of information.

 The Hive and the Honeybee Collection
The Phillips' Beekeeping Collection at Cornell's Albert R. Mann Library is one of the largest and most complete apiculture libraries in the world.
The Hive and the Honey Bee grew out of a presentation on the Phillips collection at the 2002 Eastern Apiculture Society conference and is something of a digital child of that print collection.
At present, it consists of the full text of ten rare books from the Phillips Collection, and each book is fully searchable.

However, bees have perhaps the most potential of all minilivestock activities and much is being done in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Pacific Islands to develop the practice of sustainable and improved beekeeping, which has been shown to increase a farmer's income by up to 50% under favourable conditions.
He is also keen to help small farmers to take up beekeeping and he will supply nuclear bee colonies and starter sets and provides training for those interested in apiculture.
