In the X-Men comic books, Cheyenne Mountain was attacked by a supervillain named Count Nefaria, who planned to take control of the United States missile controls.

One can easily imagine how tots who grew up to be today’s generation of comic book writers might have had their youthful imaginations fired by the myriad of possibilities implied, if not remotely examined, by this episode.
Again, I’m not a follower of DC comics, but I imagine much arguing has occurred over the years as to why, first, a Green Lantern had need of a spaceship; second, why he would allow the craft to crash; and third, why he’d allow himself to be injured were this to happen.
Lest we are rusty on our comic book lure, the show’s Omniscient Narrator identifies the planet as the "birthplace of the young Kal-El." (As opposed to the birthplace of the "old" Kal-El?) He doesn’t mean Nicolas Cage’s kid, by the way, he means Superman.

Frazer's book (while outdated in a few small ways), is still considered one of the great books of the 20th Century, and for good reason: Frazer was the first person in the world to map out the mechanics of what we might call ‘magical thinking’, the essential building block of myth.
The book makes an excellent argument that magical thinking is one of the primary keys to understanding human consciousness.
It is also interesting to note that in the comic world they inhibit, both superheroes are not only known to each other but close friends and confidantes.

AMALGAM COMICS changed everything for Skullogeist, who thought that it was the most original and refreshing idea to come out of the comics industry in years.
Realising the implausibility of my lifelong dream of becoming a supervillain and/or a robot, I settled for mastering as much useless trivia on them as I could, while spending as much time living on the net as possible, becoming something of an authority on villain-teams and early '90s stuff that nearly everyone else hated.
Ive been interested in conan comics since 1980 and until the age of the internet was the only conan fan I knew of.

This is the Superman book I’ve been waiting for all my life.
It won’t cure cancer, it won’t even slice and dice and make French fries, but it’s the beginning of what looks to be a bunch of fun stories by a couple of very talented creators.
#1 is pretty much what the title implies; a good old-fashioned monster movie, in comic form.
