The first asteroid found to have a moon was the main-belt asteroid Ida, whose satellite, given the name Dactyl, was discovered by the U.S. Jupiter-bound space probe Galileo in 1993.
Asteroids that cross the orbit of Mars or whose orbit lies entirely within that of Mars are called near-earth asteroids.
The Aten asteroids, of which a couple of hundred are known, also may cross earth's orbit, but they do so near their furthest point from the sun (aphelion); the few whose orbit lies entirely within earth's are called Apohele asteroids.

They have not only their perihelion at less than one AU (within Earth's orbit), but also their aphelion; that is, their entire orbit is within Earth's.
As of July 2004 there are only two confirmed Apoheles: 2003 CP and 2004 JG An earlier object, 1998 DK, has not been seen since February 24 1998 and its discoverer David J. Tholen acknowledges that it is currently lost.
The name Apohele is still under a bit of debate, since most asteroid subclasses are named for prominent members of that group (for example, Aten asteroids are named for 2062 Aten, the first such asteroid discovered), whereas there is no asteroid named "Apohele".

The small asteroid 2007 BB was discovered on 17 January by the Catalina Sky Survey, two days before it passed 240,000 miles (387,000 km) from Earth.
The small asteroid 2006 WV was discovered on 17 November by the Catalina Sky Survey, four days before it passed within 217,000 miles (349,000 km) of Earth.

In addition, the 40-m-wide object 1998 DK36, discovered by Tholen and Robert Whiteley in February 1998, may have been an apohele but it was observed on only two consecutive days and subsequently lost due to failure of the observing instrument.

The following is an updated version of a list of asteroid groups and families that I posted on the Minor Planet Mailing List.
Families are different and result from the catastrophic breakup of a large parent asteroid sometime in the past.
The Minor Planet Center holds that the name for a group comes from the first asteroid in that group to be named (except for those in the Trojan and more distant groups.) So far, we aren't even close to having a named object for these groups, or even one that is unambiguously in the group.

While its orbital elements have not been well established, its aphelion (farthest distance from Sun) was determined to be less than the Earth's distance to the Sun.

A fortuitous recent result of asteroidal spectrography found that the object under observation was, in fact, a nearly dormant comet.
For one thing, the WISE science page states that it "will be able to measure the diameters of more than 100,000 asteroids," but this is only a small fraction of the total main-belt population, which is in the range of 1.1-1.9 million, and that's just the ones more than a kilometer in diameter.
It will be better at detecting smaller asteroids closer to Earth, but any such observation must be completed by ground-based observers, who face the limitations of sensitivity, moonlight, and declination already mentioned; the spacecraft's survey program does not allow follow-up exposures for orbit determination.
