Stormwatch (comics) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It began in the comic book Stormwatch v1, published by Image Comics but owned by Jim Lee.
The Authority was made up of members that had survived the massacre of the Stormwatch team by xenomorphs, the creatures from Alien.
The series became a satire of politics and comic books, with segments where the team replaced a Strom Thurmond/Jesse Helms-like Senator with a shape-shifter and a storyline where a Captain America-analog (revealed to be the reincarnation of George Washington) tried to overthrow the American government.

Apollo suffers the most because not only is his face different, but he is given a different haircut.
It all is a trick, of course, to turn her against Apollo, but it is clever for the writers to play on the popular Galactica myth that the crashed ship is the Pegasus and that Apollo prevented Sheba from looking inside because he found Cain's body.
Apollo's mother, Ila, also survives, and she decided to come aboard the present Galactica instead of the past Galactica for some odd reason.

Comic strips rapidly became a defining feature of modern American culture after their introduction to newspapers across the nation in the first ten years of the twentieth century.
Comic supplements were circulation builders for newspapers, and by 1908 some 75 percent of newspapers with Sunday editions had a comics supplement.
The daily comic strip's four or five panels and fl-and-white format as opposed to the Sunday comics' twelve color panels was the first of many thematic and aesthetic innovations that fed the popularity of strips.

Apollo and the Midnighter have their own special brand revenge over "The Americans" as they are rather ultra-violently dispatched with the piece de resistance being saved for its leader (and Apollo's ravager), a fate which leaves little to the imagination.

St. James Encyclopedia of Pop Culture: Dc Comics
As the leading publisher during the first three decades of the comic book industry, DC Comics was largely responsible for the look and content of mainstream American comic books.
By the end of the twentieth century, DC had become not only the longest established purveyor of comic books in the United States, but arguably the most important and influential in the history of comic book publishing.
The strategy worked to deflect from DC much of the public criticism being directed at comic books in general, but it also deprived their publications of the edgy qualities that had made the early Superman and Batman stories so compelling.

What makes it natural is that the film is rousing and spectacular, a compelling adventure story and a meticulously-mounted history lesson – the kind of entertainment that's good and good for you.
The surprise in the choice is that it is, in so many ways, a pretty intimate story – mostly set in interiors with a lot of close-ups.
Of course it helps that the movie is so great to begin with, and if it's been awhile since you checked it out (as it had for me), I can't think of a more pleasurable way than in IMAX.
