Apollo 19 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Apollo 19 was a cancelled flight within the Apollo Program.
Following the failure of Apollo 13 the landing sites for the remaining moon landings were changed accounting for these discrepancies.
The Command/Service Module that would have been used on the mission was CSM-115, which was never flown and is displayed on the Saturn V located at the Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas.

Apollo-Soyuz Test Project - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Apollo Spacecraft and Docking Module were launched on a Saturn IB rocket.
Soyuz 19 spacecraft as seen from Apollo CM The docking was made possible by a specially-built adapter that was carried into orbit with the Apollo craft and took place on July 17, 1975.
The only serious problem that arose was due to the Apollo crew making a mistake during their preparations for re-entry that resulted in a very rough landing and the capsule filling with noxious fumes.

This, the final flight of the Apollo spacecraft, was the first docking of spacecraft built by different nations and prestaged the era of cooperation between the Russians and the Americans that is now such an essential part of efforts to build a permanently occupied space station.
The Apollo spacecraft was nearly identical to the one that orbited the Moon and later carried astronauts to Skylab.
Apollo Launch: At 15:50 EDT 15 July 1975, 7 hr 30 min after the Soyuz launch, a Saturn IB flawlessly lifted the Apollo spacecraft from Kennedy Space Center's launch complex 39, carrying Apollo commander Thomas P Stafford, command-module pilot Vance D Brand, and docking-module pilot Donald K Slayton.

Apollo 14 was in Fra Mauro ejecta, emanating from the huge cratering event that produced the Mare Imbrium Basin.
Apollo 17 also sought volcanic pyroclasic units, predicted to occur around the Taurow-Littrow Mountains but, except for the notable orange layers (glass droplets splashed out of mare lavas before they hardened) within the regolith (debris "soil"), the rocks exposed in the massifs (high hills) were again made of ejecta.

However, it should be noted that Apollo generated 24% more cash from operations this quarter than last, and spent double the amount on capital expenditures.
Currently valued at 40 times its run rate of free cash flow, Apollo would be richly valued if it were not growing at its current pace.

Apollo 18 and 19 might be scrapped because some NASA planners wanted to use the boosters and spaceships already being built to speed the space base and space station programs.
Assistant Administrator George M. Low was reported as saying NASA already was studying the possibility of canceling Apollo 19 and using its Saturn V booster and the Apollo spacecraft for a second Skylab.

This site was picked for Apollo 17 as a location where rocks both older and younger than those previously returned from other Apollo missions and from the Luna 16 and 20 missions might be found.
Scientific objectives of the Apollo 17 mission included geological surveying and sampling of materials and surface features in a preselected area of the Taurus-Littrow region, deploying and activating surface experiments, and conducting inflight experiments and photographic tasks during lunar orbit and transearth coast (TEC).
Deorbit firing of the ascent stage was initiated at 06:31:14 GMT on 12/15/72 and lunar impact occurred 19 min 7 sec later approximately 0.7 nm from the planned target at latitude 19deg 56min North and longitude 30 degrees 32min East.

Apollo 20 was originally planned in July 1969 to land in Crater Copernicus, a spectacular large crater impact area.
Later Copernicus was assigned to Apollo 19, and the preferred landing site for Apollo 20 was the Marius Hills, or, if the operational constraints were relaxed, the bright crater Tycho.
The remaining Apollo missions were stretched out to six-month intervals, which would have placed the Apollo 20 flight in 1974 had it not been cancelled.

Apollo missions were launched atop two different boosters, the Saturn 1B used for the Earth orbiting missions (including Skylab and Apollo-Soyuz), and the mighty Saturn V, the rocket to the moon.
Following its success, Apollo 8, the first human flight of the Saturn V, was launched around the moon in December, and by the following July, Apollo 11 actually placed a man on another celestial body and brought him home again.
The Apollo spacecraft was used for four later missions, the three long-duration Skylab missions the final Apollo flight, the Apollo-Soyuz linkup with the Soviet Soyuz 19.

For the Apollo side of the mission, the difference in spacecraft atmospheres, for example was handled by building a special Docking Module to fit between the two craft.
Soyuz had to operate with a lower than usual internal atmospheric pressure and the vehicle had to be fitted with a new docking unit.
Apollo on the other hand required no such changes and it operated in essentially the same mode as it had for flights to the Moon and Skylab.
