The Apollo Belvedere is usually supposed to have begun life (lifelessness) as a 4th Century (BC) Greek marble sculpture, lost to sight some time after the 2nd Century AD.
Even if my Apollo is from a mould of a bust cast in the 18th (or even the 19th century), that would still place its "origins" in a period which already has a patina which appeals to me. Then there is the matter of what is the nature of my copy.
But he was carved when Apollo was a God, and that's true whether he was first carved by a Greek or a Roman, and I am in a subterranean way drawn to that.
