| | Susan Werner, Club Passim, Boston, Massachusetts, October 23, 1999 |
 | | She sings about the experiences of the everyman (or more often, everywoman): what we all think, unconsciously; the defense mechanisms we all use; the way we chide and apologize to ourselves, the embarrassments of flubbing up and the wistfulness of needing second chances. |
 | | She bracketed the song with a sing-along cover of "Turn, Turn, Turn," jazzed up with a 5/4 time signature, and a languid, bluesy version of "Help." During the song, though, the audience was distracted by a flurry of running passersby, and Susan, with her inimical self-deprecating humor, ended the song in the middle. |
 | | One line in the song refers to the fact that the folkies laugh at her for not knowing the words to the Beatles and the Byrds, which she self-referentially refuted in this concert. |
