Are Mormonism, Mormon Church, and Mormon Beliefs Christian?
Mormons will note that they include the Bible among the four books which they recognize as Scripture, and that belief in Jesus Christ is central to their faith, as evidenced by their official name, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
By contrast, the Mormon Church teaches that there was a great and total apostasy of the Church as established by Jesus Christ; this state of apostasy "still prevails except among those who have come to a knowledge of the restored gospel" of the Mormon Church (Gospel Principles, pp.
On the other hand, some new religions such as Mormonism claim to be Christian, but accept as Scripture writings outside of the Bible, teach doctrines that contradict the Bible, and hold to beliefs completely foreign to the teachings of Jesus and His apostles.

In the eighth century, the Anglo-Saxon Saint Boniface was named the "Apostle to the Germans." In the ninth century, saints Cyril and Methodius earned the title "Apostles to the Slavs." The word Apostle, in this sense, is precisely equivalent to a missionary of a Christian church.
Some saints are given the title "equal-to-the-apostles." The myrrh-bearing women, who went to anoint Christ's body and first learned of his resurrection, are sometimes called the "apostles to the apostles" because they were sent by Jesus to tell the apostles of his resurrection.

As the Mormons left Nauvoo, they found ready aid from Masons in Iowa who were willing to ignore the directives of the Grand Lodge of Illinois.

Note: Despite Mormonism's 148 years of teaching white superiority as the "word of God," LDS "Prophet" Spencer Kimball feigned compassion and support for fls by allegedly intervening with God on behalf of "these, our faithful brethren." The Twelve Apostles (in Greek "απόστολος" apostolos [1] = someone sent forth/sent out, an 'emissary') were probably Galilean Jewish men (10 names are Aramaic, 4 names are Greek) chosen from among the disciples, who were "sent forth" by Jesus of Nazareth to preach the Gospel to both Jews and Gentiles across the world.
In the early Christian church, the word " apostle" simply meant " missionary." Saint Paul was not one of the 12, but he considered himself to be an apostle.
John - The mainstream belief is that the "beloved disciple" was John and that this was how the writer – who could be John the Evangelist or John the Apostle himself, if they are the same person – referred to him in the Gospel according to John.
