The Appenzell Mountain Dog (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-20) |
 | | The Appenzell Mountain Dog is one of the four Swiss mountain dog breeds: The Appenzell Mountain Dog, the Bernese Mountain Dog, the Entlebuch Mountain Dog and the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog which, as a characteristic common to all of them, have a three-colored coat (fl, white, russet). |
 | | In general, the Appenzell and Entlebuch Mountain Dogs are considered to be descendants of the lighter Molossian breed, whereas the Bernese and the Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs are probably descended from the heavier breed. |
 | | The Appenzell dog is particularly happy and satisfied if it is entrusted with tasks and if it is occupied, if it is always near its human friends, or rather, if the latter make it a matter of course to have their "Blaze" with them and around them in all situations of life. |
