The king of LCDs though is the Apple Cinema Display.
I also found the Cinema display to be a little on the Green side something which was easily corrected by adjusting the color balance with Adobe's Gamma control panel.
I have now been using the Apple Cinema display for nearly a year and since I continue to receive inquiries about this display I thought it was important to post an update to my original review.

 Apple Alum Cinema Display owner feedback
All of the displays are now Apple Cinema, and I had to set them up over the weekend for all the employees and executives along with the IT manager configuring the network on the new HPs.
None of the displays was merit for an exchange since all of the stuck pixels were either dark blue or dark red and were mostly alone, some at the edges, most of them at the center, but visible only with dark to fl images.
Apple's doc on pixel defects ("About LCD display pixel anomalies") isn't very definitive as far as a specific number to qualify for a replacement.

When you factor in the depth of the actual Apple Cinema, the viewing plane of the display ranges from about 6" from the back of the mount out to about 47''.
Apple Cinema Display users who are very tall and desire sit-stand flexibility may require the 5" extension if the CDA4229 arm is attached to a desktop. Unobstructed wall mounting or mounting to vertical surfaces will allow for full vertical travel of about 28" and does not require the 5" extension. 
The bottom of the Cinema display may rest on the surface or be elevated up to 22" above the surface.

Although Apple does not provide a specific pixel response time (usually stated in milliseconds), it claims that the monitor is designed to respond quickly across the entire color spectrum, while most manufacturers report only the transition from fl to white.
As for the display quality itself - I can't really compare it directly with my 17" on account of that being rather dead, but other than the considerably increased size, the 20" appears to be a lot brighter - too bright if you leave the brightness up full - and to have a higher contrast.
Since I have seen those lights display at normal power when I was having a hard drive failure, and in combination with other research I have done, I know it's not the lights, but the transformer, or power connection for the two upper bars.

Even after winning a shootout between the Apple Cinema Display and the Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP from Cnet, it has come to our attention that Apple has quietly boosted the specifications of the newly-crowned champ even further.
The Cinema Display's brightness, which was originally 270 cd/m2, has now been upgraded to 400 cd/2.
I checked the specs of all the Apple Cinema Displays a month ago and the specs for the 30-inch (and all of them in fact) were identical to those of today.

The 20" Apple Cinema Display is a rather picky screen, its native resolution is 1680x1050 at 60hz.
Judging by their native resolutions, my display adapter would be able to suit a 23" Cinema Display, but cannot support the 20" Display's native resolution of 1680x1050.
It seems to me that since Apple felt they could forego the creation of a driver to install their monitor, PC users are left hanging dry.

Apple uses a better more even backlight and a far superior plastic film panel - the part you look through to see the panel (be it, the "glass") Thus the Apple screens are far smoother and dont exhibit any pixelation.
Can't speak for the Apple display, but at $418 shipped to my door from Dell, my new 2005FPW is SO much more reasonable on the cost:benefit scale.
At first we buy Apple products because their design and function is years ahead of the competition, but Apple laces it's products with something that makes us crave...

 Color Consistency Problems with the New Aluminum Apple Cinema Display HD 23"
Above Left are snapshots of the first Aluminum Apple Cinema Display HD 23" that I bought and experienced color consistency problems with.
The right and left sides of the display had a dingy yellowish tint to them and there was a darker bluish vertical band just left of center.
If you truly do have a “good” ACD 23" then please post photos of your screen showing nothing but solid white and solid gray desktops as proof and include the first five digits of your serial number as well as how long you’ve been using the display.
