Application framework - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In computer programming, an application framework is a term usually used to refer to a set of libraries or classes that are used to implement the standard structure of an application for a specific operating system.
Application frameworks became popular with the rise of the graphical user interface (GUI), since these tended to promote a standard structure for applications.
There are also a number of frameworks which will create identical applications for both Macintosh and Windows from the same source code, such as the widget toolkits wxWidgets or FOX toolkit.

Framework - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is about the general software development term; Framework is also the name of an office application suite, and Mac OS X frameworks are application frameworks.
The word "framework" has become a buzzword due to recent continuous and unfettered use of the term for any generic type of libraries.
A framework may include support programs, code libraries, a scripting language, or other software to help develop and glue together the different components of a software project.

 Object-Oriented Application Frameworks
This increases the difficulty of ``single-stepping'' through the run-time behavior of a framework within a debugger since the control flow of the application is driven implicitly by callbacks and developers may not understand or have access to the framework code.
Frameworks can be viewed as a concrete reification of families of design patterns that are targeted for a particular application-domain.
In general, frameworks are often used to simplify the development of infrastructure and middleware software, whereas components are often used to simplify the development of end-user application software.
