However, in the April 23 Northern Territory newspaper (already posted on the 22nd), a retired doctor in Darwin is suggesting that the games be postponed and that inviting athletes from any effected nations is not a wise thing to do.
The 2003 Arab Games scheduled for September came under discussion in late March for possible postponement, due to the war in Iraq.
The deadline for proposals is May 20, 2003, with the winner chosen in October.

He was on the ground, about 1/2 way down the barbed wire fence (cowpath?) on Sulphur Springs Road, accross from the green house, just down from Timian Road.
As is often the case with this rare visitor to the Basin, this individual was only seen on one day by a single observer before seemingly moving on.
Early April is often a good time for seeing uncommon sea ducks like Long-tailed Duck and the scoters as they migrate through the Basin, and this past week was an especially good one for these species.

It occurs to me that someone with Lexis-Nexis access and some time to kill could play "compare and contrast" with quotes from, say, the Cincinatti riots of a few years ago, and from the Baghdad riots today.
In 10 days when the equipment is there, trained personnel are in place, and every Iraqi (not just those favored by the Baath party) is receiving medical treatment y'all will probably have moved on to the hundreds of thousands of Syrians being killed by sanctions.
