 Aqua regia
Aqua regia (Latin for "royal water") is a highly corrosive, fuming yellow or red solution.
Aqua regia is itself very corrosive and has been implicated in several explosions as well due to mishandling and it should not be used unless gentler cleaning techniques such as the use of brushes, sonication, detergents, or milder oxidisers are inadequate.
While local regulations may vary, aqua regia may be disposed of by carefully neutralizing with an appropriate agent - such as sodium bicarbonate - before pouring down the sink.

Effects of surface treatment on the change of band bending at the surface of ptype GaN were studied using synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy, and the results were used to interpret the reduction of contact resistivity by the surface treatment.
The atomic ratio of Ga/N decreased as the photoelectron detection angle was decreased, indicating that the surface oxide was mainly composed of Ga and 0, GaO,, formed during high-temperature annealing for the generation of holes, and Ga vacancies, Vca, were produced below the GaO, layer.
The shift of the Ga 3d core level spectra confirmed that the surface band bending was decreased by 0.58 eV by the HCl treatment and 0.87 eV by the aqua regia treatment.
