Aquil Abdullah and his partner Henry Nuzum were the first US men’s heavyweight double to reach the Olympic finals since Brad Lewis and his partner rowed in the Los Angeles games in 1984.
Aquil, as always, is a man on the go with a busy schedule; rowers are a tight knit group and he had just been in New York the day before having lunch and discussing future plans with two time Olympian Jamie Koven.
Aquil made the quad in 2001, was the spare for the Milan World championships in 2003 and in 2004 won the doubles trials with partner Henry Nuzum.
