During the World War II he led attacks on Arab leaders in Iraq, as well as the Vichy regime which was present in Lebanon and Syria.
On 15 May, 1948 Glubb led the Arab Legion across the Jordan to occupy the West Bank, not expecting to fight for it because of the understanding between the Jewish Agency and King Abdullah.

I had a quick look on Wikipidia, and it said we formed the Legion in the 1920's to organise a defence for the Jordanian protectorate - however it said we did not hand it over to the King's command until after the 1948 Arab/Israeli conflict, where it was the most successful of the Arab armies.
That said, the Arabs only had superior numbers of personel and equipment in the first month of the war, after that, the Jews had the upper hand in numbers - so looking at the number of total Arab nations against the Jews can be deceptive.

They did - Jerusalem was to be an international zone governed by the UN, however I believe it was attached to Jordanian territory, so the Jordanians moved in when the Jews tried to take it.
