In a follow-up to the accusations from a leading Venezuelan Human Rights group that Aragua police are top of the nation's human rights abuses list, Virgilio Delgado, Aragua Legislative Assembly deputy and president of its Human Rights Committee, has presented a full report on torture, mistreatment and abuses by Aragua's police force.
Delgado says "I'm angry because I didn't receive majority support from the Assembly to have Aragua's Police Chief dismissed from office." The extra judicial killing of Pedro Angel Arambulet Diaz by police officials is highlighted in the deputy's report.
According to the police official who conducted the investigation and authored the report, Jose Antonio Silva Rondon, the "official version" that Arambulet Diaz died after a shoot-out is false, and that the pistol found on his person is registered in official police files as a "recovered fire-arm."
