Topic: Arausio

Orange, Vaucluse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roman Orange was founded in 35 BC by veterans of the Second Gallica Roman legion as Arausio (after the local Celtic water god), or Colonia Julia Firma Secundanorum Arausio in full, "the Julian colony of Arausio established by the soldiers of the second legion".
A previous Celtic settlement with that name existed in the same place and a major battle, which is generally known as the Battle of Arausio, had been fought in 105 BC between two Roman armies and the Cimbri and Teutoni tribes.
Arausio covered an area of some 170 acres (690,000 m²) and was well endowed with civic monuments—as well as the theatre and arch, it had a monumental temple complex and a forum.

This moving of a great many people very close to the Roman borders of the time caused many Romans to worry, and thus to send armed troops to the borders who inevitably clashed with the migrating Cimbi.

In 105 they returned to the attack under their king Boiorix, and favored by the dissensions of the Roman commanders Gnaeus Mallius Maximus and Caepio, defeated them in detail and annihilated their armies at Arausio (Orange).

A conservative reaction brought power back to the Senate, but they prosecuted the Jugurthine War of 112-105 so poorly, on top of a slave war in Sicily, and losses at the hands of Germanic tribes, of whom the Cimbri destroyed consular armies at Arausio in 105.

I suppose it could be - I do not know enough about ancient history to tell, but internet sources seem to claim that the Battle of Noreia happened in 113 BC and the Battle of Arausio happened in 105 BC.
That means there are 8 years between the Battle of Noreia and the Battle of Arausio.
I think that 8 years would give the Romans enough time to either reconstitute the old army or raise another one for Capeio (if it is actually him who was at Noreia - I do not know that).
