Topic: Arawn

Arawn - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arawn and Pwyll became good friends because, though Pwyll wore Arawn's shape, he slept chastely with Arawn's wife.
In Welsh folklore, Arawn rides with his white, red-eared hounds (the Cŵn Annwn or Hounds of Annwn) through the skies in autumn, winter, and early spring.
Arawn plays an important role in Mythic Entertainment's Dark Age Of Camelot, in which he is a patron god to the Inconnu race, as well as the Reaver, Heretic and Necromancer classes.

 Review - The High King
With the discovery that Arawn's men are in posession of King Smoit's domain and the news that Arawn is amassing an army to attack the main defence of Prydain, Caer Dathyl, Gwydion abandons pursuit of Dyrnwyn and begins gathering his liegemen to defend Prydain.
With the sack of Caer Dathyl, effective resistance to Arawn is ended and the last remaining treasure house of Prydain, the hall of the Bards, which houses the lore and history of the Bards is destroyed.
(Arawn and Sauron are similar, too: both are betrayers and both seek to bring living death where all are slaves to them.) Both are the stories of the end of the age of races with magic and the beginning of men, who make their own destiny.

British Mythology - Pwyll Prince of Dyfed
When Arawn reveals how Pwyll can help him, we wonder if it is just coincidence that Pwyll acts so badly and puts himself in Arawn’s debt just when it turns out that Arawn has need of Pwyll.
This is a kind of diplomatic agreement between two kings to tie their lands together so that, for example, the protection of the kings applies to subjects of the other kingdom whilst in their land.
Perhaps Arawn is Pwyll’s other half (his guardian angel as it were), and hence the tying of the kingdoms now that the two are one.

Arawn is the king of Annwfn/Annwn in The Mabinogion story "Pwyll Pendeuc Dyfed." His enemy is Hafgan--"Summer White." He has a pack of hunting dogs with white bodies and red ears--the Cwn Annwn of the Wild Hunt.
There is some debate as to whether Arawn is simply a title; in the short engyns of "Cad Goddeu," (the non-Taliesin version), Arawn is identified with Bendigedfran, who later becomes the Fisher King.
The figure of Arawn was later adapted (and demonized) into the lord of Annuvin and king of evil in the award-winning children's series The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander.
