Arc (album) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Arc is a live album by Neil Young that was originally released in a special edition package with live album Weld.
Sonic Youth opened for Neil Young during the Weld tour, and Arc mirrors their style of avant-garde noise rock, the develpment of their approach influenced in part by Young's style of guitar on recordings such as Rust Never Sleeps and Live Rust.
Arc is another evidence of Young's continuing awareness of new musical experiences such as punk rock, noise rock and grunge, the existence of which has caused Young either to incorporate the new elements to various extents into his own performance and composition, or to re-assess and shift artistic direction.

RPGFan Soundtracks - Arc the Lad Piano Album
Arc the Lad Piano Album is truly an excellent and well-executed album from start to finish.
While Arc the Lad Piano Album doesn't do very much with the original piece in terms of arrangement (I can sense it even without hearing the original tracks), it is anything but simplistic.
My only complaint with this album would have to be the pianist's noble, but at times vain, efforts to keep up with the notes.

Vivian Stanshall - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The band toured incessantly and recorded several albums, which led to a tour of the U.S. This was so successful that they were booked for another U.S. tour soon after.
At the same time, he wrote the songs for Steve Winwood's Arc of a Diver and many of the songs he later used for Stinkfoot, the musical comedy he wrote with his second wife, Ki Longfellow-Stanshall.
After the Searchlight, the Stanshall family lived and worked on the Thekla, a Baltic Trader, which was sailed 732 nautical miles from the east coast of England to be moored in the Bristol docks.

CANOE -- JAM! Music - Pop Encyclopedia - Abbey Tavern Singers, The
The single and the songs on the first ARC album in 1966 were ALL recorded live at The Abbey Tavern.
What the clever folks at ARC did do to slide into the Canadian Content good graces was to copyright these traditional Irish ditties' arrangements as new works under the publishing arm of CANINT MUSIC CORP. LTD with CAPAC (the Canadian performing rights agency at the time).
And to capitalize on the success of their endless tour schedule was a third album called "Abbey Tavern Singers on Tour" in 1968 which was recorded at Bay Studios in Toronto during a break in their tour between a Toronto and Peterborough gig.

The previous album had actually been a misnomer and was actually an arranged album.
Opening the album is the Arc the Lad Theme (which opens all Arc the Lad soundtracks), followed by the game-specific opening, which we notice as an immediate turn from a live orchestral performance to the early PS1 synth.
The rest of the album is a spread of battle themes, town themes, and character/event themes.

 Austin Chronicle: Music: Arc Angels
Over the three years the Arc Angels were together, Bramhall and Sexton -- and Sexton and Layton for that matter -- rarely saw eye-to-eye, and Bramhall's Arc Angels-era heroin addiction didn't help bring anybody closer together.
Back then, because the Arc Angels' inner circle was so tightly knit, only family, a handful of roadies, Geffen AandR man Gary Gersh, and co-managers Mark Proct and Tim Neece really had any clue why the Arc Angels were breaking up in the first place.
Nine years later, the surprisingly candid answers to those questions and proof that the Arc Angels have come full circle from friends-that-jam back to friends-that-jam can be found in the oral history constructed here from separate interviews conducted with the four members of the band.

Joan of Arc is, was, and may always be Tim Kinsella and an ever rotating motley crew of Chicagoan musicians.
The traditional elements of Joan of Arc are all there, but they are cleaned up a bit, not unlike trying to present a punk son to his grandmother.
The album seems as if it is about to burst with rebellion against the norm but traps this pent up desire with seeringly ironic wit and charm.

Concept albums are for '70s prog rock bands like Yes, King Crimson, and Pink Floyd, not for young midwestern suburban kids who used to be in Cap'n Jazz.
The Gap wasn't going to change their minds of those who already thought of JOA as pretentious, but for fans it was confirmation of the band's great genius: a twisted, deconstructed combination of fairly traditional acoustic sounds and warped, claustrophobic Pro Tools-created minimalist randomness.
Conceptual and contextual, subversive and sublime, Joan of Arc is always inventive and often irresistible.

This was, of course, merely the beginning as they steadily enlarged their fan base until Sakura, their erstwhile drummer, was arrested for heroin possession in 1997 and left.

Hitomi no Jyuunin is definitely the best song on the album; finally deviating from the mindless rock on the album, Hyde finally gets his voice in order and belts out some of the highest notes ever (I'm sure he was feeling the pain from this song for weeks to come).
While not necessarily a bad album, every time I listen to the album, I think "why couldn't they have done this like they did ray," which is also a rock album, but with class, variation, and style.

Anyways, this is an experimental album -even for Joan of Arc- and the product is a mixed bag of throwaway tracks of ambient noise, soothing fingerpicked acoustic numbers, and some atmospheric songs that succeed in creating both a mood and cohesiveness.
The press-sheet for this album admits that some of these tracks were improvised in the studio.
Unfortunately, this is the type of album that, for the typical listener, can function as no more than inoffensive background music.

When I heard that the title of the new Joan Of Arc album was Joan Of Arc, Dick Cheney, Mark Twain...
Although the release still drops off into sheer weirdness on a couple occasions, this is also the most musical album from the group and it dips into so many genres that the cumilative effect of listening to the disc is a bit dizzying at times (which is at least probably part of the intention).
The release opens with "Questioning Benjamin Franklin's Ghost," and it seems clear from the outset that although some idiocyncracities are still there (odd timing signatures and bizarre lyrics), musically the album will be a bit different.

Also, because the album, unlike previous Joan Of Arc works, is so ornately organic, it almost feels out of place within the band's context and history.
Not that Joan Of Arc have ever followed any sort of pattern: One album they'd be yelping emo, the next cut-and-paste lo-fi electronica.

Where I felt this album fell short in comparison to Hastings 1066 was in the melodies, choirs and introductions.
On Hastings 1066 the melodies were galvanizing, never tiresome, the choirs were more diverse, prevalent and more effectively used and the introductions, which the album called suites set a tone that wasn't matched in Jeanne D `Arc.
