Guidelines on the Integration of Heritage Conservation Issues in Development Plans
that the recommendations of the Urban Archaeological Survey of the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, be followed in relation to areas of archaeological potential and the consequent developmental constraints.
A sustainable approach requires that the stock of wildlife habitats and natural sites within the County should be conserved and protected for the benefit of future generations.
The Council recommends that the local authority includes a general policy statement, along the following lines, that seeks to protect and conserve wildlife and semi-natural features:

 FLORIDA ARCHAEOLOGY Illustrated Overview
Perhaps the most notable development in Florida archaeology in recent years is the dramatic growth of contract archaeology, which is the result of a host of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances designed to minimize or avoid the loss of archaeological knowledge due to construction or land development.
Major regional syntheses of archaeologically distinct geographical areas in Florida had been completed or were well underway, partly the result of new fieldwork being sponsored by Yale University and partly resulting from the analysis and interpretation of the large scale excavations of the 1930s.
The impact of Moore's work in Florida (and elsewhere in the Southeast) is felt to this day, as many of the intact pottery vessels and other artifacts excavated by him were later to become type specimens in more refined systems of archaeological classification.

 Shiant Isles Archaeological Survey
The visibility of archaeological surface features is therefore limited to some degree because of the rough broken topography, but this is somewhat countered by the general lack of trees or large shrubs and the low grass height maintained by grazing sheep.
The general survey methodology is to walk virtually every square metre, with constant reference to the natural features marked on the map, which are usually quite accurate since they are plotted from aerial photographs, so that ones exact position is always known.
He in turn commissioned the present author, on the basis of the SEARCH project results, to undertake a general archaeological survey and to implement a series of investigative excavations on a range of the islands monuments which would be incorporated into his forthcoming publication.

Processualist theories of social evolution driven by natural selection are uninteresting and unhelpful: 'adaptation' in social evolutionary theory is the 'cause, consequence, and outcome of change' (p.
Like Tilley's (1989) article in the Reader in Archaeological Theory, this piece seems urgently relevant, though was written nearly 15 years ago.

Boone et al., Is it evolution yet?
In the genetical theory of evolution by natural selection, it may well be meaningless to ask why, say, the sickle cell trait arose in the first place, because the mutation which produced it presumably occurred independently of its benefit to its heterozygous carrier (i.e., mutation is random with respect to adaptive value).
In evolutionary archaeological theory, the production of new phenotypic variation (including novel forms of behavior or artifacts) is seen as conceptually analogous to the process by which new variants arise in the genetic code-undirected mutation and recombination.
Whereas evolutionary ecological theory and analysis often refer to "decisions" and "strategies" and "goals," a key programmatic element of evolutionary archaeology is denial of the explanatory relevance of goals or intentions for evolutionary analysis.

 Ferret FAQ - Natural History
My opinion is domestication alters the gene frequencies of an animal, much like natural selection, so domestication is a speciation event and domesticates are new species.
Nevertheless, it is clear from other archaeological and historical sources that ferrets have been domesticated for quite a while, at least 2500 years.
