We shoot at Kensington Palace Gardens in the summer and in Pimlico during the winter.

'The Archers' is one of a small number of outstanding portraits from the early part of Raeburn's career, in which he employed an exceptionally accomplished and subtle fusion of arresting compositions and dramatic treatment of light and shade to create a sense of intimacy between the spectator and the sitters.
Robert and Ronald Ferguson became members of the Royal Company of Archers in 1792 and 1801 respectively and the contemporary revival of archery as a fashionable sport appears to have served as inspiration for the composition.
The National Gallery is delighted to have been able to acquire this painting, which enables visitors to Trafalgar Square to appreciate the role of Scotland in the story of European art at this period.

The Archers is set in the fictional Midlands village of Ambridge close to Borchester, the county town of Borsetshire, an imaginary shire situated between the (actually contiguous) real counties of Worcestershire and Warwickshire, south of Birmingham in the West Midlands.
Killing off Grace Archer was widely seen as a "spoiling" operation by the BBC; the cast had realised something was going on when the decision was made to record the episodes in London rather than Birmingham, and the episode was broadcast on the night of ITV's debut.
In early years her character was the hippy of the Archer family, her first child, Adam (now back in Ambridge after many years living in Africa and firmly out as gay) being the result of a fling with a cowman, Paddy Redmond.
