CD review: "Looking for Butter Boy"
Yet, even in his criticism of Western culture's values Roach is never preachy (maybe he could give lessons on that to U2's Bono) or condescending – instead, he reminds us of our own idealism, our own dreams.
His third U.S. release, "Looking for Butter Boy," shows that Roach continues to grow artistically from his first two, "Charcoal Lane" and "Jamu Dreaming." He's more confident as a singer, more able to try something different and pull it off.
And Roach's 13 new songs are all solid; a few are good enough to be covered by others.

Archie Roach : Looking for Butter Boy - Listen, Review and Buy at ARTISTdirect
Although Archie Roach's third album, Looking for Butter Boy, retains many of the same themes of parental separation and aboriginal pride of his early releases, it is a harder and more accessible record than his other albums, partially due to the presence of producer Malcolm Burn.
What's important, however, is that Roach has retained his eye for lyrical detail and arresting melody, which makes Looking for Butter Boy yet another wonderful record from this underappreciated singer-songwriter.
