Architect (The Matrix) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Architect is a fictional character appearing in the last two films of the Matrix trilogy, created by the Wachowski brothers.
The Architect is first encountered by Neo appearing as a manicured, extremely articulate bureaucrat sitting in a large circular room whose walls are covered by television monitors in a pivotal scene at the climax of Matrix Reloaded, the second film of the Trilogy.
It is unclear whether the Architect directly acted in the interest of balancing Neo within the Matrix, or part of the code inherent to the programming of The One affected Smith.

Oracle (The Matrix) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In The Matrix Revolutions and Enter the Matrix it is explained that Kamala and Ramachandra, the parents of Sati, traded with the Merovingian, giving the Oracle's termination code in exchange for their daughter's passage into the Matrix as an Exile via the Trainman.
In the third Matrix movie, the Oracle hints at her true purpose, which is to bring imbalance, rather than balance, to the equations that form the Matrix.
In that she is opposed to her counterpart, The Architect, who brings balance to the equations that form the Matrix.

Matrix Reloaded : Best explanation I've seen - MFN Forums
I believe Neo is an AI program created by the Architect, as is the Keymaker, Oracle, Persephone, etc. This is basically a given, when the Architect tells him he is a remainder of the equation; the only AI character with a choice.
All past Neos had chosen the scientific/rational door or rebooting the matrix and trying again, this is a very "mechanical" response; it is not an irrational HUMAN response.
Now the Architect is sure that he has finally created love, he is willing to risk it all on this bet of his.

The Architect's wall of video monitors in 'Reloaded' appears briefly in 'The Matrix': Immediately after Neo is apprehended at MetaCorTechs, and before he is interrogated by Agent Smith, the camera slowly zooms in on several video monitors showing Neo sitting in the interrogation room.
Many people assumed the monitors were connected to interrogation room cameras in the police station, but curiously, they all showed the same image of Neo in his room.
The Architect was watching Neo even before he was awakened by Morpheus and his crew.

Weak Character Name Relations - MFN Forums
Before I saw revolutions, I had an image in my mind and a certain direction of how the new characters would turn out just by judging what I thought was symbolism in their names, but Revolutions justified that the meaning of their names had very little or nothing to do with it.
Technically Zeus is symbolism of The Architect (the father of the matrix) but there is no connection between Persephone, The Architect, or The Oracle (the mother).
Oh yeah that’s right, it’s because he held an exile program that played a short role in only one matrix movie.) Back to Persephone, she was supposed to be kidnapped, but she really didn’t seem like that much of a prisoner because she talked a lot about the love she used to have with Mero.

PRODUCTION NOTES: REVOLUTIONS - The Final Chapter
With the May 2003 release of the second chapter, The Matrix Reloaded, the writer-directors tunneled deeper into the sprawling saga’s mythology and presented revolutionary new visual effects technology that redefined what is cinematically possible.
The visual and intellectual concepts that were introduced in The Matrix and further explored in Reloaded culminate in a tour de force of epic action and resolution in the trilogy’s final explosive chapter, The Matrix Revolutions.
At the cliffhanger conclusion of The Matrix Reloaded, Neo lies in a comatose state aboard the rebel hovercraft Mjolnir after using his powers to terminate several attacking Sentinels – an inexplicable feat given that he was not jacked into the Matrix during the deadly confrontation.

A student in my seminar with John McCarthy had a theory that the architect in The Matrix reloaded was modeled after Professor McCarthy.
Professor McCarthy looks similar to the architect, and like him is one of the fathers of AI, but that's pretty much where the similarity ends.
We can see the very development of philosophy, art, religion, science, and technology as all stemming from a drive to "free humanity" from such deception and enslavement, as part of a struggle to achieve the position of a Morpheus or a Neo.

I'm of the personal opinion that Agent Smith is the most interesting character in these movies, and a big part of that is because Weaving is so damn perfect at portraying the character's combination of control and repressed anger.
In Revolutions, it's established pretty well that no character's existence is sacred, and so you get a sense of suspense that a lot of other action flicks that try for that world-shaking feel never quite grasp.
