Architect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
An architect, also known as a building designer, is a person involved in the planning, designing and oversight of a building's construction, whose role is to guide decisions affecting those building aspects that are of aesthetic, cultural or social concern.
Architects are required to obtain specialized education and documented work experience to obtain professional licensure, similar to the requirements for other professionals, with requirements for practice varying greatly from place to place (see below).
In Canada, architects are required to belong to provincial architectural associations that require them to complete an accredited degree in architecture, finish a multi-year internship process, pass a series of exams, and pay an annual fee to acquire and maintain a license to practice.

It is 40 years since the Architects Act 1963 came into force, therefore, in terms of reporting and financial accountability requirements, it is considered desirable for the requirements applying to the Board to be amended to reflect a more modern style of governance and administration.

board is empowered by RCW 18.08 to use subjective examination questions and did not exceed its statutory authority when it considered "aesthetics of design" in grading solutions of examination problems in "design"; and (3) that the court is bound by the determination of the board made after the administrative hearing.
The applicant for a license is protected by at least two statutory regulations: (1) the board of examiners must be qualified; and (2) the examinations given by the board must be within the limits of statutory requirements.

We recall one thread where the topic was how the word 'architect' should be restricted by law in the English language to building designers: all those 'system architects' (in the IT industry), landscape architects, and naval architects should have their backsides soundly kicked for usurping a sacred name.
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the Architects Registration Board (ARB) of the United Kingdom noted with distaste on its website that the title ‘architect’ was widely used in the information technology (IT) industry.
Architects are also featured in a number of horror films, oddly enough, where the plot has the architect coming in to renovate a haunted house.
