Archive were formed by Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths in 1994 from the ashes of UK House act Genocide 2.
These albums have seen Archive gradually turn away from their roots in Electronica and Trip-Hop and towards more psychdelic and progressive rock in the style of bands such as Pink Floyd, Mogwai and The Secret Machines.
Archive announced at short notice that Walker would not be joining the band's tour in November 2004 "due to unforeseen circumstances".

On 5th October the band travelled north to the town of Buckingham for a concert in aid of the Mayor of Buckingham's charities, held in Buckingham church.
Some of the band approached the event in trepidation, as the previous time we had performed there, the building had been unpleasantly cold, but fortunately a combination of improved heating and extra doors seemed to have solved the problem.
On 23rd February the Band promoted their own concert in the new community centre building at Meadowcroft, a district of Aylesbury, and were gratified to find that there were more people in the audience than there were chairs.

I give the band a couple of trade meals during the year...once during the holidays and then during the WAC tournament.
Worked closely with the band director to address the needs of the band and put together a schedule that works for them becuase they perform at football as marching band, and at MBB, WBB and men's ice hockey as pep band during winter.
We recognize the senior band members, along with cheerleaders and dance team members on Senior Day at football and men and women's basketball games, and for the pep band, we do the same at men's ice hockey senior night.

This particular band is no exception, actually, with the much appreciated ommission of avante-garde, this band moves seamlessy from one genre to another, with mostly original material so expect a muscular reference to Goodman, a nod in the the direction of Woody or perhaps wander to the edge a la McNeeley or Brookmeyer.
The great bands are so comfortable in what they are doing, so relaxed that even though they are swinging like crazy, if asked they could hit the gas pedal even harder, they are so within their ability.
Believe me the band has the impact of Kenton at his most dynamic - not the same style.On the subject of style, don't let the title of the album lead you to believe that this is some cerebral exercise, with audience pleasure on the back burner.

The Scottish Arts Council are delighted that Battlefield Band have been selected for a Tune Up tour, taking place in May 2005.  For this tour, Battlefield Band will be performing with five traditional musicians from Uzbekestan that they met while on tour in 2003.

I am assuming this is a very earthy, mellow band with an acoustic feel to them.
